  • 2nd day in tokyo, 07-2010

830am. breakfast in hotel. japanese style... my suggestion... i am getting older and like to eat rice and grill fish for breakfast.....ai.....

uncle and aunties are alot earlier than i was.... + i was late.... can't get out of bed till 8:37..................

I took the seat next to the windows where i can see the rails and trains. the food was really nice. just like everywhere in japan.

after breakfast, since it was raining outside, they decided to stay in tokyo station area and do some shopping in department stores and underground street. they let me go out myself though. and then we eet up again for lunch at ginza.

can you believe there is a bird cage in the hotel lobby??

on the way to the metro rail, there are posters promoting japan with pics of japan seeing from the sky. so beautiful.

from tokyo station i got to awajicho station which is even closer than ochanomizu station to the sports shops.

skip the shopping... just say that i got too much in hand i gotta go back to the hotel, dropped off the stuff and took metro rail to ginza again. the pokemon campaign was still on. no idea what's that about though.

We booked for tempura. the shop is in sony building B1. called ten ichi. I was early.

the chef was so funny, he knew we does't speak jap and he doesn't speak english, so he kept making gestures to explain things to us. but he doesn't speak a word.....

Since the sony building is having a fair for the okinawa aquarium, they got a special set menu for this event and ingredients were from okinawa. I ordered that the moment i saw it's from okinawa.

shrimps. a must for tempura. the head was so good......

the body of shrimps...... the rectangle pieces were sweet potato. normally i don't eat that but this one tastes really nice,

kisu fish and kani (crab).  these are extras .the crab was sooooo juicy even after deep frying.

    more fish...............

veg, green pepper and onion head.

Deep fried stuff with shtimps and veg, normal one only with shrimps. and extra item: anago. a kind of eel.... super good, too. don't regret ordering at all.

a la carte menu. don't understand most of the names thought.... neither jap nor eng.....

After big lunch we shopped abit in ginza area.... when we left sony building, we saw the big fish tank again..... they fishes are still beautiful.

Cousin M accidently bought a pair of new glasses and have prescription lens fixed. that only took 45min so we went for teanear by and wait for the glasses to be ready.

the cafe was nice~~ see the waitress by the window? she looks normal doesn't she...... but.....

a bit blurry but can you see the grey tights??? that's so cool and pretty and kinda sexy with her shorts.

    they made cute bread, too.

after the tea and glasses being collected, we went back to hotel, dropped off whatever we got, uncle rested in room, auntie went shopping near the hotel while cousin M and I went to Akihabara.

this is my 2nd time to this place and i already regret it...... this place can easily bankrupt me.......

this place is toooooo evil......don't come again if you don't have enough cash......... went back to hotel, this is the 1st time i saw the hotel on the ground. we were always moving underground. the building with the big M.

then we went for dinner. we booked table at 8:15...... the place was so secluded the damn driver could dropped us at a totally diff place even with a GPS. i saw the gps showed that we weren't there yet but the damn old drive kept saying this is the place...... lucky i got my own gps and we gotta walk form area 7-5 to area 7-21................. in roppongi area.

We had teppanyaki. fushion style. the name is Omae XEX. from the XEX group.

Auntie B made a good joke, she saw the name of the shop "尾前" on the chopsticks and she thought that indicated which is front and which is tail of the chopsticks.

haven't see this beer before, so give it a try.... quite bitter . more bitter than other jap beer.

even with the lowest price set we got 2 appitizers each, the raw beef is extremely tasty. 2nd app i had shrimp tartare. very nice, too. with all the source on the side, the taste of the shrimp wasn't so dull.

while waiting, let me look around....... next table.

the smoke retriever. this bowl is for the meat.

super sour sherbet. the dips were for beef. i only used salt and pepper. best combination for beef.

before eating beef, let's have some super sweet roast onion.

before we officially eatting the beef, there was a mashed potato + western wasabi. very tasty little dish. Auntie A doesn't eat beef hence she had chicken instead.

finally the beef.... most of us ordered rump hence wasn't super fat. the sirloin was fat.

other guests left, let's look at the place again.

After the main courses, we had dessert in a bar on 2/F. sooooo relaxing....

uncle and aunties had ice cream, i had caramel pudding and cousin M had a vanilla thing with green tea source.

the caramel pudding.... and the pot is for green tea source. bitter. not sweet at all.

we left around 11:15 and we took taxi back to the hotel. this is the department store Oazo next to the hotel.

Outside of the hotel. viewing from the elevator.

my favorite item of the day: lens hoods and protective lens for the new lens. i accidently found a olympus shop which got these hoods in stock AND at a lower price, HK doesn't have them in stock and retail prices were 4xxxyen and i got them with 3xxxyen only. I am happy.

and you see why i couldn't do the blog yesterday..... we got back to hotel around 11:30, gotta bath, gotta pack.... hope i can catch up tomorrow.
